We are so delighted with this latest busy weekend for Shortleaf Band. On Saturday, we returned to The Piney River Brewing Company in Bucyrus, Mo. Owners Joleen and Brian Durham recently won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup for their Float Trip Ale! Shortleaf alumni Melinda Maxam and Jodie Forbes joined us for a few tunes. After playing our Hillfolk music in the Piney River red barn and a fantastic dinner with our dear friends Joe and Cathy Richardson, we took the long drive to Kansas City for the KC Scottish Highland Games. This is our ninth year to play for the Highland Games in KC. Our super talented friend Keith Van Winkle (from the Three Dollar Band) joined us for the entire set. We had a wonderful time on stage with Keith. It was just a blast to play traditional (and not so traditional) Scottish music with Keith! Next weekend.....Shortleaf opens for the Quebe Sisters on Friday and Saturday night, SNORTY HORSE opens for Dr. Ralph Stanley! So much to look forward to.
